Our Plan for Improving the Cape Cod & Islands Multiple Listing Service

How we are going to make your CCIMLS better in the next 24 months

During the course of surveying membership, discussions with members and planning session of the CCIMLS Board of Directors, the CCIMLS BOD has created a plan for how to move the organization forward in the next 24 months.
The focus will be on 4 Major Initiatives of the CCIMLS for 2015-2016:
  • Create strong value proposition and promote the suite of services
  • Integrate the suite of services and focus on core services identified in surveying
  • Explore partnership with MLS PIN to streamline listing entry and create exposure for CCIMLS members
  • Explore MLS systems for future software upgrade
As the plan becomes implemented, CCIMLS will re-survey in 6 to 9 months to determine effectiveness and any movement of the needle to be able to adjust and take on more issues as needed.
Remember, all of this is for the CCIMLS. Last year, the Board of Directors passed a new strategic plan for the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS, which has made tremendous strides to being implemented. You can find more on the CCIAOR Strategic Plan, HERE.

Create strong value proposition and promote the suite of services

Your membership into the Cape Cod & Islands Multiple Listing Service (CCIMLS) gives you access to a variety of tools, services and support. We found from surveying we need to better promote  that suite of services to you to ensure you are utilizing all the tools available to you.  In addition, you need to know how to use those suite of services, so we will be putting together a better training program on each tool as well to better serve our members.

Integrate the suite of services and focus on core services identified

Having a suite of services that is not integrated is not helpful or productive. So, integrating all of the CCIMLS suite of services together for a seemless flow of technology, value and service is vital to providing a better user experience. We’ll be spending time looking at making sure the various services are integrated at your fingertips. In addition, we’re going to focus on the top services you told us you wanted and make sure they are the best available.

Explore partnership with MLS PIN to streamline listing entry & create exposure for CCIMLS members

We want to eliminate the most significant problems those of you who belong to multiple MLSs may have. This includes double entry of listings, price and status changes and any other change that you may make to your listing.  We have come up with a way to do just that. Unfortunately, MLS PIN leadership will not work with CCIMLS to solve this problem. We think this is something we should work on – and if you think it is too,  please contact PIN’s leadership and ask them to work with CCIMLS for a better future for our REALTOR® membership as a whole.

Explore MLS systems for future software upgrade based on conditions outside CCIMLS’s control

Our members are satisfied with the MLS system as our survey indicates. However, it’s inevitable that one day the CCIMLS will undergo a software upgrade – whether that means a better system or a new system all together. You do it with your phone every couple years, you do it with your computer’s operating system and you also do it with every household appliance. Technology gets better and that facilitates the need to upgrade.
While we do not anticipate a technology upgrade happening soon, we need to be prepared in case that software update gets forced upon us. Actions have transpired in recent months requiring us to be prepared: this includes the National Association of REALTORS® partnership to create Project Upstream and AMP.
As such, it is a prudent business decision to be prepared for several possible scenarios, including: The possibility that Rappattoni is unable to accept Project Upstream listings or they have a significant change brought on by the recent passing of their CEO, Andy Rappattoni. We do not anticipate switching MLS systems, but do want to identify a possible replacement and so, CCIMLS will undergo a search for MLS providers in the 1st quarter of 2016. We promise to keep you updated on the progress, include a wide range of perspectives and create a transition plan for when that day comes.

Will you be running parallel systems prior to the changeover?
