Renewing Your License

In Massachusetts, a licensed real estate broker or salesperson needs 12 hours of state-approved continuing education to renew their license every two years - with their license expiring on their birthday. License renewal is through the Massachusetts Board of Professional Licensure. Getting Licensed

The Massachusetts Board of Professional Licensure grants real estate licensees for both salespersons and brokers in the state.

If you want to become a broker or salesperson, you must meet the following requirements:

The real estate salesperson application requires:

  • 40 hours of real estate education.
  • Successful completion of licensing exams.

A real estate broker application requires:

  • 3 years of experience working for a broker.
  • 40 additional hours of real estate education.
  • Successful completion of licensing exams.
