Aleta Azarian Honored With Charles F. Lockhart Award for Distinguished Service in 2020

Aleta Azarian has been awarded the 2020 Charles F. Lockhart Award for Distinguished Service by the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS® (CCIAOR).

Aleta has contributed to the Cape Cod real estate community for more than 40 years. She served as the president of CCIAOR and the Cape Cod & Islands Multiple Listing Service (CCIMLS) in 2015, and on the Professional Standards, Grievance and countless other committees throughout her tenure as a REALTOR, including being instrumental as part of the building committee that built the CCIAOR’s office building in the late 1990’s. Aleta has also set an example through her commitment to the REALTORS Political Action Committee (RPAC) as a consistent major investor and a champion of the causes to protect private property, promote homeownership and advance the real estate industry. She has served numerous terms as a board member for the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) and currently serves as CCIAOR’s representative on the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors.

“Aleta’s impact on CCIAOR is hard to measure, because it is so immense.” said Greg Kiely, President of CCIAOR. “In the course of her 40 years in the association, Aleta has had a hand in everything from the building of the CCIAOR office, the selection of our current CEO, fundraising for RPAC, leading community initiatives and being a valued source of advice and encouragement for experienced and new REALTOR® volunteers alike. She truly is and has been a trailblazer in our association and our industry.”

Aleta, a Sandwich resident, has contributed to many Habitat for Humanity projects, assisted with NAR’s Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and fundraises for many local causes. She is a member of the Cape Cod Chorale and has recruited many of her fellow REALTORS® to join the organization as well. Aleta is a licensed real estate broker for Kinlin Grover Real Estate and previously managed several of its Lower Cape offices; prior to that, she owned and ran her own real estate brokerage for 25 years. She was named CCIAOR REALTOR® of the Year in 2007.

“Aleta is constantly staying educated and passing on information to our members picked up from attending meetings with our federal and state congressional delegation at local and state meetings and conferences,” said husband and fellow REALTOR® Doug Azarian. “Aleta is very worthy of this award!”

The Charles F. Lockhart Award for Distinguished Service is awarded to those who have given an extraordinary amount of time, effort, and resources to ensuring the visibility and success of the Cape Cod & Islands Association or REALTORS® and the Cape Cod & Islands Multiple Listing Service. The award is named in honor of Charles F. Lockhart, CCIAOR’s long-time retired chief executive officer and a past president of the Association.
