Cape Cod and Islands MLS seek External Board Members From Real Estate Industry

The Cape Cod & Islands Multiple Listing Service (CCIMLS) is seeking external candidates interested in filling the role of ‘Industry Director’ for its Board of Directors in 2021.

During a recent governance restructuring, CCIMLS shrunk its board from 13 members, who all had to be either participants or subscribers of the multiple listing service (MLS), to a seven-member board, of which two appointees will be non-member industry directors.

CCIMLS is looking for board members who have experience and expertise as a real estate broker in non-competitive markets, experience in the real estate technology business, have multiple listing service executive experience, or other aspects related to real estate to help solve the challenges of the industry.

“Our focus is ensuring we’re committed to strengthening the role our members play in helping consumers buy and sell homes. We’re committed to bringing a diversity of voices to the table to create a marketplace that works best for our members, and bringing in an outside perspective to our board room is a feature that will pay dividends for our members,” said Greg Kiely, the 2020 president of CCIMLS.

There are two industry director seats available for one-year appointments. The position is unpaid, but any required travel will be covered for any in-person meetings.

“There is a lot of talent in the real estate industry, and our hope is to harness that talent to bring solutions to our members. We work hard to provide innovative solutions that advance and enhance the value of the MLS and are looking for those with experience that can help foster that further. We look forward to bringing a diverse set of voices to push us to be better,” said CCIMLS CEO Ryan Castle.

CCIMLS is a for-profit corporation wholly owned by the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS® and has approximately 2,700 participants and subscribers across Cape Cod. CCIMLS also wholly owns the Martha’s Vineyard Multiple Listing Service (MVMLS).
