Fair Housing Training Requirement Information
February 2, 2023 Miscellaneous
CCIAOR updated our bylaws in March of 2022 to raise the level of professionalism in our region by adding a new Fair Housing bylaw continuing education requirement in order to maintain their membership in good standing with CCIAOR. This new requirement helps our membership stay informed about Fair Housing laws so that they may better serve their clients.
Eligible Courses for Completion
The bylaw changes require existing REALTOR® members to ONE of the following courses:
- Protecting the Protected Classes Continuing Education CE Class (RE111RC)
- NAR’s At-Home with Diversity Certification
- NAR’s Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Why it Matters to RE Commercial Practitioners CE Class (RE111C21). Applicable only if the member's business is primarily commercial real estate.
These courses must be completed within the current Code of Ethics Cycle, which runs from January 1st, 2022 through December 31st, 2024. Completion of either requirement in 2021 will also count toward the 2022-2024 cycle requirement.
As the RE111RC20: Protecting the Protected Classes in Real Estate launched in 2021 and was heavily promoted, we are allowing those who took the class in 2021 to apply that course to the 2022-2024 Fair Housing Training Requirement.
Please note, the Fair Housing CE Course (RE19RC20: Fair Housing) does NOT meet the current training requirement.
