Laura Usher Receives a 2021 CCIAOR Good Neighbor Award

A place to call home is one of the most important things that someone can have, and Laura Usher’s work with Champ Homes has helped many transition out of danger of being homeless and into permanent housing. For her work with the organization, Laura is receiving the 2021 CCIAOR Good Neighbor Award.

A consistent volunteer and board member with Champ Homes since 2015, Laura has been a quiet leader working diligently to help others succeed in their housing needs, life skills and vocational opportunities. Champ Homes has provided housing and services to over 3,000 people in the last 30 years, helping them find long-term sustainable housing.

Laura assisted Champ Homes in obtaining multiple grants and working as a fundraiser. She helped the organization secure a housing grant from the MAR Charitable Foundation in 2015, kicking off her involvement with the organization and helping to deepen Champ Homes’ relationship with CCIAOR. She has been a member of the Champ Homes fundraising committee since 2017, and on their Board of Directors since 2020.

“Laura is a worthy recipient of this award because she is passionate, dedicated, thoughtful and compassionate. She is an asset not only to Champ Homes, but also to the overall Cape Cod community” says Champ Homes CEO Adam Burnett. Fellow REALTOR® and nominator Pam Roberts says “Laura’s positive personality, insight and intuition help to provide the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Laura Usher is a REALTOR® with William Raveis Real Estate, and served as the 2016 CCIAOR President and 2017 MAR Regional Vice President. She has also served as a trustee and chairman of the MAR Charitable Foundation. She helped Champ Homes put on fundraising concerts with Irish Tenor John McDermott in 2019, and a virtual concert in 2020 along with Duffy Health Care and the Cape Cod Council of Churches.

“We have a big community of Good Neighbors here on the Cape, but I am thrilled to get the award, and I am thrilled for Champ Homes to get the donation and recognition that they deserve” says Usher.
