New Oil Tank Regulations in Orleans
August 5, 2021 Industry News
Under a new Orleans Board of Health bylaw, single-walled above ground oil tanks must be replaced with double-walled ones prior to property sale. The Board of Health and the Orleans Fire Department have developed these regulations for the purpose of preventing toxic/hazardous material (heating oil) leaking from corroded storage tanks.
The most important part of the regulation concerning REALTORS®, is that prior to the date of transfer of property, all above ground fuel and chemical storage tanks and associated piping not meeting the design standards in the regulation must be replaced with a double-walled above-ground tank.
